Romanée Saint Vivant, Domaine Sylvain Cathiard 1999

Grapey and very juicy red and black pinot fruit aromas trimmed in superb spice notes that are followed by opulent, slightly loose knit mid-palate flavors that are sweet and intense supported by a relatively tannic finish. I quite like this but it's a moderately curious wine in the sense that it seems quite open until the finish where it tightens up and declares that it's here for the long haul.
