Romanée Saint Vivant, Joseph Drouhin 1995

An expressive nose of spice and clove and still largely if not completely primary red pinot fruit aromas precedes elegant, round and supple middle weight flavors that possess a rather tannic, almost hard finish and while this is an extremely pretty nose, it's not clear that there is sufficient mid-palate stuffing to buffer the structure. A serious wine that will display its best side with food.
