Tasting Notes

Robert Parker, Bordeaux Book (4), December 2003

The tell-tale blackberry/cassis character is well-displayed in this dark ruby/purple-colored wine. There is excellent ripe fruit, soft tannin, low acidity, and a delicious, easy-going personality. Although it will not make "old bones," it is a ripe, soft, attractive, evolved Bordeaux for consuming over the next 8-9 years.

Robert Parker, Wine Advocate (128), April 2000

A very good effort, this wine exhibits a youthful, evolved nose of cassis fruit. In the mouth, there is good fatness on the attack, light tannin, medium body, and a round, gentle, concentrated finish. No, it is not a large-scaled Grand-Puy-Lacoste, but it is one of charm and elegance. It should drink well for 7-8 years.

Robert Parker, Bordeaux Book (3), November 1998

The 1997 is a blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Merlot.
It is a hedonistic, dark purple-colored wine with sweet cassis fruit dominating all other potential nuances. In short, this is akin to drinking a crème de cassis cocktail. Medium-bodied, with low acidity, admirable fat in the mid-palate, and good length, this delicious, approachable, classic Pauillac should drink exceptionally well young, yet last for 12 years.
