Banyuls, Domaine Pietri Geraud 1952

Tasting Notes

Sourced from the family reserves, the 1952 has a youthful, almost Burgundy-like appearance. The nose is not quite as complex as others: a little suppressed with mulberry, dark plum and leather. The palate is medium-bodied with fine delineation and poise. Quite sensual in texture with touches of Christmas cake, dried quince and mulberry, it is not complex but it is long in the mouth. Fine. Tasted December 2012.

100% Grenache Noir. Mid dark brick with lots of development. Briary with some dark fruits. Sweet and round and a bit simple. A little decay on the end. Not as rich and complete as the 1950. Grainy finish. 17%
