Tasting Notes

Medium deep ruby-purple in color, the 2011 Bannockburn Pinot Noir reveals slightly reduced aromas that are beginning to give way to notes of tar, ripe cherries and black raspberries, with nuances of earth, meat, loam, bark plus a touch of Provence herbs. Medium to full-bodied with medium to high acid and a medium level of grainy tannins, it shows a very savory, earthy character on the palate and finishes with good persistence. Drink it 2013 to 2018+.

A rich and juicy wine with plum and dried strawberry character. Aromatic with beet root. Velvety tannins. This is a blend of three vineyards: Calvert, Bannockburn, and Cornish Point. Drink or hold. Screw cap.

James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com, December 2012

Good bright, full red. Deep cherry aroma complemented by sexy soil tones. Ripe and fine-grained but youthfully restrained, with black and red fruit flavors complicated by soil-inflected minerality. Not yet especially sweet or perfumed but impressively concentrated, supple and smooth. The dry finish features suave tannins. This needs at least a couple years in the cellar to harmonize.
