Sightly less impressive than I had hoped for, but still excellent, this wine displays more herbaceousness than I recalled from barrel, but it is made in a classic style, with loads of spice as well as mocha-infused black currants and sweet cherries. It is elegant, cleanly made, and should drink nicely for at least a decade or more.
Tasted ex-château and single blind in Southwold. The Chateau Nenin 2008 is a little muted on the nose with sweet red cherries and blueberry fruit, though it is lacking a little delineation. The palate has a little hardness on the entry, saline notes with dark olives that leads to a tannic, slightly brittle, dry finish. Tasted January 2012.
Bright and focused, with raspberries and violets on the nose and palate. Full and very silky, with a lovely finish. Succulent.
A strong effort from owner Jean-Hubert Delon, the 2008 Nenin is a blend of 81% Merlot and 19% Cabernet Franc cropped at 34 hectoliters per hectare. Sweet mulberry and black cherry fruit, earth, crushed rock, and spring flower characteristics are followed by a wine displaying a full-bodied texture, sweet tannin, and admirable purity. The grapes at this estate were harvested between September 29 and October 8
