Echézeaux, Bouchard Père et Fils 2012

Tasting Notes

Here the wood is a bit more modulated though still easily visible on the otherwise fresh, spicy and ripe red berry fruit liqueur-like aromas. There is a cool and refined mouth feel to the delicious medium-bodied flavors that possess a dusty and lightly mineral-driven finish. This moderately structured effort could be enjoyed young or aged to good effect if desired. Drink: 2024+

(estate; from En Orveaux, situated in the cooler Combe d'Orveaux): Good deep red. Wild dark fruits and game on the nose, complicated by licorice, bitter chocolate and herbs, along with a black olive quality. Sweet, pliant and fine-grained but nicely energetic too. Finishes with rather soft, harmonious tannins and lovely building length.
