Tasting Notes

The 2013 LaGrange exhibits an attractive deep ruby color as well as less oak than is normally found during the first year of tasting. It offers supple tannins, excellent texture and good purity. This successful, medium-bodied 2013 should drink well for 8-10 years.

Robert Parker, Wine Advocate (214), August 2014

The Lagrange 2013 is a blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 21% Merlot and 4% Petit Verdot picked between 30 September and 14 October with the last Petit Verdot vines (representing 40% of the total crop.) It sports considerable fruitiness on the nose with vibrant and pure red cherries, fresh strawberry and cedar that is well defined. The palate is well balanced with fine, perhaps slightly "stringy" tannins, but there is commendable precision towards the finish that deftly carries the oak. This is definitely one of the more assured Saint Julien wines of the year and should be well worth picking out if the price is right. Tasted March 2014.
