Gevrey Chambertin, Domaine Armand Rousseau 1999

Tasting Notes

This is still a quality villages but one that has clearly peaked and is now in a phase where it beginning a slow decline as the flavors are starting to thin out a bit on the otherwise delicious and persistent finish. While it is certainly not fatigued, I would be drinking this up over the next 5 years or so unless you prefer your burgs with plenty of sous bois; note that there is none present at the moment but I predict that there will be soon enough. Tasted numerous times with consistent results.

The medium to dark ruby-coloured 1999 Gevrey Chambertin has highly expressive black cherry aromas. This rich, supple, and ample wine is medium-bodied. Loads of blackberries and sweet dark cherries can be found throughout its satin-textured personality. Drink it over the next 5-6 years.
