The historic Wemyss family's first experience of whisky came in the 19th century when John Haig built a distillery on their land. Today, the company hand-selects interesting casks from famous distilleries, bottles them and names them after the whisky's taste and aroma. Enticing and evocative names such as "Toffee Glaze" and "Citrus Burst" are used to give the customer an idea of what each bottle offers. Each cask is chosen by a 'Nosing Panel', who select the casks based on quality and how representative they are of their specific region, be it Campbeltown, Speyside, Islay, Highland or Lowland.

Tasting Notes

Speyside. Distilled in 1989, bottled in 2013. 46%, 326 bottles made from this cask.

"Colour: Lime green highlights. Nose: Imagine a rain refreshed forest in Springtime, hints of daffodils and moss. Candied lime peel and green gage jam. Murray Mints - soft vanilla and strawberries emerge. A slight note of flint and camphor. Palate: A toasted and tingling sensation. Minted toffee crisp, pistachio nuts and chewy toffee. It has a cooling taste of (Kendal) mint cake and pine needles. A mentholic and eucalyptus character softens with water to a toffee sweetness. Finish: Refreshing and clean like a rain refreshed forest in spring time."
