The Cazes family of Lynch Bages have released Les Ormes de Pez this morning at £250 per dozen. Clearly a step-up from last year (as are most Northern Médocs), we think that this Saint Estèphe will be one of the best value wines of the 2016 vintage. It is of clear classed growth quality. The critics all seem to agree that this is one of the finest wines ever produced here.
"An excellent Les Ormes de Pez...might be one of the best wines from the estate." Wine Advocate
"Fantastic" James Suckling
"Utterly Delicious" Decanter
"The finest young Ormes de Pez I have ever tasted" Matthew Jukes
Meanwhile on the right bank we have the release of the three properties of the Mitjavile family. François and his son Louis have once again produced sensational wines and, as usual, Le Tertre Rôteboeuf is completely over-subscribed and will be allocated to last years buyers who pre-ordered. For information the price is £1500 per dozen.
Château Palmer have now released their second label Alter Ego which is offered at £575. This might well be at the same quality level that Palmer's grand vin was at 20 years ago.
