En Primeur News : Wednesday, 24th May 2017
The release of Lynch Bages today represents perhaps our biggest challenge of this en primeur campaign so far. The good news is that the price is correct at £1175 and the Wine Advocate score of 97/99 is the highest ever for any vintage of Lynch Bages en primeur. However, the bad news is that the Chateau has released 20% less volume than last year.
We are very pleased that, by calling in a few favours in Bordeaux, we have been able to purchase enough stock to allocate every pre-order customer the same quantity as they had last year and have also been able to supply a few further cases to pre-order customers who didn't buy it in 2015 but have placed orders across the board in 2016. We cannot possibly supply all the quantities ordered but we have done our very best to spread our allocation around as fairly as possible. This wine is now sold out.
The second wine - Echo de Lynch - is available to buy at £340 but the white wine is sold out.
In Pomerol we now have the release of Gazin. This Chateau is well known for releasing at modest prices and we're slightly surprised by the 30% price rise (in euros). However the selling price of £720 is still cheaper than the current price of other top vintages and is probably fair for the undoubted quality and high ratings.
