En Primeur News : Wednesday, 31st May 2017
First out today was Saint Julien's Château Lagrange at £420. Described by the Wine Advocate's Neal Martin as "A great Lagrange...this may well rank as the finest produced. 94-96 points."
Malescot Saint Exupéry was released at £504, which is significantly lower than the current market price of their 2009 and 2010. This has been popular and we have a very few cases remaining.
In Saint Estèphe we have the release of two very good wines that are, unfortunately, both priced above our top estimates. Phélan Ségur is £395 and Calon Ségur is £765. Calon Ségur is always hard to buy and the Château has reduced the quantity by 15% compared to the 2015. Consequently our allocation has been taken up by pre-orders from last year's buyers, so this is now sold out.
Also in Saint Estèphe, Les Ormes de Pez is still available at £250 and, with the same Wine Advocate score as Phélan Ségur, this is looking like an increasingly attractive deal from the owners of Lynch Bages.
Customers who missed out on Calon Ségur should wait for the likes of Rauzan Ségla, Grand Puy Lacoste and Domaine de Chevalier - wines of comparable quality that we hope to offer soon at lower prices.
