En Primeur News : Monday, 23rd April 2018
The 2017 Bordeaux en primeur campaign kicks off with some big name releases.
First of all we have the excellent Château Palmer which, as always, is one of the most seductive and polished wines of the vintage. The release price is 20% down on last year but at around the price of £2350 per dozen the consumer can find other good and even great vintages from this property on the market. The second wine Alter Ego de Palmer is offered at £585
From Saint Emilion we have Château Valandraud at £1200 which is close to 25% down on last year.
Whilst these releases cannot be considered to be absolute bargains, we hope that they do, at least, set a trend for significant price reductions during this en primeur campaign
We also have the release of Château Coutet in Barsac at £342 per dozen. Fine quality and miniscule quantities here although it's hard to argue that this is a must-buy wine when the fabulous 2005 vintage is available at over £100 less.
