We now have the release of the right-bank Chateaux of the "Vignobles K" group which are made by Jean-Christophe Meyrou, formerly of Le Gay and La Violette.
Their top wine is L'Enclos Tourmaline from Pomerol with a total production of just 200 cases this year. The price is £1188 per dozen bottles.
The new addition to this portfolio is Bellefont Belcier which is an excellent St Emilion property on the Pavie slope situated between Larcis Ducasse and Le Tertre Roteboeuf. The price is £408 per dozen. This wine is rated 18+ by Matthew Jukes (high than superstars such as Pavie) with this tasting note :
"A new purchase for Vignobles K, they bought the property at the end of last year but they were managing the vineyards much earlier in the year and through the harvest time, too. Much more resonance and very much more intense fruit here, this is a wine with masses of energy and depth and it is a stellar inaugural vintage for Peter Kwok and his team. Every element of a great wine is here with superb, stylish fruit, grainy tannins, balanced oak and vital acidity. It is a very noble creation."
