En Primeur News : Tuesday, 5th June 2018
Today sees the release of one of 2017's very best red wines with Pichon Lalande offered at £1116 per dozen. This was comfortably placed in our list of the top 20 wines of the vintage and, in fact, received our highest score on the left bank after Latour and Mouton. With a 25% reduction from the price of the 2016, this is not only a Chateau making outstanding wine of near First Growth quality, but owners Louis Roederer and manager Nicolas Glumineau have listened to the market and released at a reasonable price. Neal Martin compares Pichon Lalande 2017 to the 1996 and 2010 vintages made here and it certainly looks like, (along with neighbour Lynch Bages) one of the best value wines of the vintage.
The always popular second wine - La Reserve de la Comtesse - is available at £360.
Also released today is Lafon Rochet from St Estèphe at £380 and Issan from Margaux at £514
