En Primeur News: Wednesday, 12th June 2019
One of the greatest wines of the vintage is now released with Mouton Rothschild out at £5112. This is certainly at the quality level of the legendary 1982 and 1986 vintages that were produced here and it should surpass the 2000 and 2005. A classic Mouton that we rated 19.5/20 - our highest score of the vintage. Unfortunately there is 37% less volume than there was last year, so it is now sold out. The white wine - Aile d'Argent - is offered at £720 per dozen.
Haut Brion is now available at £4900 with the second wine, Clarence Haut Brion, at £1224 and Haut Brion Blanc at £7300. We have a few cases of La Mission Haut Brion still available at £3000 which looks like an an increasingly attractive price.
This morning also saw the release of St Emilion blockbuster Pavie at £3504. Much loved by American critics, the 2018 here was described as possibly the "wine of the vintage" by Rhône expert Jeb Dunnuck. As customers can currently buy the 2009 and 2010 vintages at lower prices than this, it's not expected that it will rush off the shelves. We have, however, managed to secure a few extra cases of the amazing Canon at £1200 (if you’re quick) and we still have stock of the renaissance vintage of the lovely, refined Troplong Mondot at £918.
