Château Langoa Barton has a long family history. Owned by the Bartons since 1821, this Third Growth remains under family ownership alongside its sister property Léoville Barton. Based in the heart of Saint Julien, Langoa Barton produces serious but succulent Cabernet-dominated wines at a modest price point.
Recent vintages have been a resounding success, with the house style of Langoa finding the perfect balance between classic structure and freshness paired with fleshy fruit and more approachability than the strict and firm Léoville.
It is therefore with great pleasure we can offer a fantastic six-vintage vertical direct from the château, including the 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011. This is an excellent opportunity to own and drink across a very fine range of Langoa Barton's recent history with perfect provenance. You can read more about these six vintages below.
2006 and 2007 are now both mature and in their peak drinking windows. The 2006 is more muscular and rich, with Neal Martin praising its "impressive denisty" and awarding it 91 points. By contrast the 2007 is silky and fresh, though Martin notes the "very good fruit concentration and length for the vintage" and gives it 90 points.
Though slightly more youthful, 2008 and 2011 are both now ready to drink and showing superbly. The 2008 is fresh and compact, with vibrant acidity and crunchy fruit that is leayered with leather, spice and earth. The 2011 is a real treat, with once-hard tannins now softened and integrated into an impressive and muscular wine with real depth.
2009 and 2010 are well established as great Bordeaux vintages - though stylistically very different. The 2009 is fleshy, soft and seductive, with seamless tannin and oily black fruit that make it very approachable already. By contrast the bold and brooding 2010 is powerful and dense, with fresh acidity matched by intense black fruit, wrapped in still-grippy tannins - this is a wine that will reward patience. Both have superb critical reviews, receiving 94 and 95 points respectively from Neal Martin.
