Chambolle Musigny Amoureuses, Domaine Robert Groffier 2002

Tasting Notes

Much more reserved than usual with backward but spicy black fruit aromas that merge into toasty, round, sweet, intense and wonderfully deep flavors and a sappy, incredibly long finish, all underpinned by fine, almost delicate tannins. There is a bit more toast here than I personally prefer but there can be no doubt that this is a terrific effort with outstanding base material.

The exceptional 2002 Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses is a big, broad, chunky wine. Medium-bodied, oily-textured, sultry, pure, and juicy, this lush beauty possesses awesome layers of thick, dark fruits. While dense and concentrated, it is also fresh, well-balanced, and exhibits a long, superb finish. Projected maturity: 2006-2014.
