A classic Pauillac, this is an obvious major improvement from the proprietors, the Casteja family. Sweet vanilla, tobacco leaf, black currant, licorice, and camphor are all present in this full-bodied, rich, moderately tannic wine, which is still under the radar and fairly priced. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2025.
The 2006 Château Lynch-Moussas seem mature on the nose with pleasant tobacco-tinged red berry fruit, plenty of forest floor aromas coming through. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly stringy tannin. It is missing some weight towards the second half, but there is still adequate freshness here to suggest that it will offer several more years of drinking pleasure.
Really attractive, with a pretty core of ripe fruit, coffee and spice character. Full-bodied, with silky tannins and a long caressing finish. Very well done. Almost 92-94.
Gentle sweetness on the nose, though quite simple. Disappointingly flat in the middle as if it were corked? But second sample no better.
