Tasting Notes

Deep ruby/purple-colored with classic aromas of smoke, earth, black cherries, and creme de cassis, this elegant, layered 2001 possesses outstanding depth and richness as well as impeccable finesse, well-integrated wood, and a long, concentrated finish. Anticipated maturity: 2006-2016.

Glowing with health. Still very young but there seems to be quite a bit hidden in there. Lots of rather astringent tannins for the moment. Big and meaty and ambitious.

Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com, October 2007

This wine has taken on considerable weight during its upbringing in cask. A deep ruby/purple color is accompanied by aromas of spicy tobacco, licorice, black currants, fruitcake, and minerals. Medium-bodied and elegant, it is a model of finesse allied to considerable flavor authority. Anticipated maturity: 2006-2015.
