Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Domaine de la Janasse 2003

Tasting Notes

The dense ruby/purple-hued 2003 Chateauneuf du Pape displays a powerful, gamy, roasted herb, meat, cassis, kirsch, sweet black cherry and plum-scented bouquet. Full-bodied, moderately tannic, pure, and well-balanced, it needs 2-3 years of cellaring, and should drink well for 15 years.

Perfumey raspberry and black cherry fruit builds nicely in the glass. Shows mocha, mineral, tar and lavender hints as well, but stays almost lacy through the fleshy finish. Drink now through 2020.
