Tasting Notes

The fifth vintage for young Jean-Philippe Janoueix has turned out to be magical. Produced from yields of 27 hectoliters per hectare, the stunningly proportioned, blockbuster 2005 is a blend of 49% Merlot, 48% Cabernet Franc, and 3% Petit Verdot. It tips the scales at 14% alcohol. A wine for the ages, it possesses layer upon layer of fruit, extract, and glycerin along with high tannin, marvelous purity, an inky/blue/purple color, and stunning richness and intensity. This should be a monumental wine requiring considerable patience. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2030+
