Côte Rôtie les Becasses, Maison M. Chapoutier 1999

Tasting Notes

Robert Parker, Wine Advocate (140), April 2002

The 1999 Cote Rotie Les Becasses demonstrates why this vintage is Cote Rotie's finest since 1978. It possesses a dense/ruby colour, a sweet, jammy nose of blackberries, cassis, smoke and espresso, full body, low acidity, exceptional opulence, and impressive levels of glycerin and extract that tend to obscure the tannin. This hedonistic, voluptuously-styled Cote Rotie should drink well young, yet last for 15 years.
