Tasting Notes

This property (which borders Lafite, Mouton, and Pontet-Canet) is owned by the proprietors of Pichon-Lalande. A blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot, the 2000 is an elegant, nicely textured, smoky, sweet wine offering scents of caramels intermixed with black currants, cherries, cedar, and licorice. Supple-textured and lush, it should be enjoyed over the next 7-8 years. A sleeper of the vintage.

This Medoc cru bougeois is owned by Pichon Lalande and the winemaking is very similar to that of this leading 2nd Growth. There is a delightful cloak of creamy, vanilla-secented new oak with a smooth, milk chocolate mouth-feel. Supple and lovely already.

Farr Vintners, Blind 2000 Tasting 23/5/03, June 2003

This is the first vintage that rachets up the level of quality from this estate owned by the proprietor of Pichon-Lalande. A blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot, it reveals a certain affinity to Pichon-Lalande. Chocolate scents intermixed with sexy, creamy, black currant and underbrush notes jump from the glass. There is good density, an up-front, expansive style, medium body, and sweet tannin. Anticipated maturity: 2003-2014.

This is the finest offering yet produced under the administration of Madame de Lencquesaing (Pichon Lalande's owner). A succulent, concentrated, deep ruby/purple-colored wine, it exhibits considerable finesse as well as copious black currant fruit intermixed with spice box, chocolate, and cedar. Sweet tannin and good acidity provide delineation. It is a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot. Anticipated maturity: 2002-2012.
