CDP Reserve Sixtine, Cuvée du Vatican 2001

The Reserve Sixtine (generally 60% grenache, 30 % syrah and 20% mourvedre, aged in equal parts in barrels and foudres) is one of the finest efforts of the vintage. Its saturated plum/purple colour is followed by a tightly knit wine revealing a great tactileimpact on the palate, fabulous concentration, copious quantities of blackberry, blueberry and charcoal like flavours and an awesome 60 second finish. There is also a hint of vanilla in the sweet fruit. Anticipated maturity: 2006-2021
