Grands Echézeaux, Domaine de la Romanée Conti 1995

Tasting Notes

Still deep ruby center but beginning to lighten at the edges. Wonderfully spicy, indeed even explosive black fruits with a touch of damp earth and underbrush lead to dense, extremely concentrated and sappy full-bodied flavors of impressive richness and length. Like many '95s at this stage, the finish shows a moderate amount of tannic astringency but this should pass with time as the structure is ripe. However, note that the '95 GE is so big that it will require plenty of cellar time to arrive at its apogee.

This wine is austere, masculine, backward and a dense. It offers superb black fruit flavors and a firm tannic backbone. Drink it between 2003 and 2012+.
