Grands Echézeaux, Domaine d'Eugénie 2007

Tasting Notes

A background note of wood spice combines with very fresh, ripe and expressive black and blue pinot fruit that also features notes of smoke, game, warm earth and a subtle stoniness that transfer over to the dense, round and brooding full-bodied flavors that also possess excellent sève that culminate in a palate staining and wonderfully long finish. This is a very ripe '07 in the context of the vintage but even so, it will require more than a decade to fully blossom. In a word, impressive.

Again very dark, blackish purple. Bit of oak and plush ripe fruit. Lots of black fruit. Sweet almost soft. Definite floral note. Firm structure very underneath and (just) sufficient acidity, but quite obvious oak tannins. Light finish, fades a bit. Drink 2015-2022. Date tasted 27th Jan 09.
