Maximin Grunhauser Herrenberg Auslese, Maximin Grünhaus - Weingut der Familie von Schubert 2007

Tasting Notes

Apple, apricot and red currant dominate the nose and a surprisingly tartly-refreshing palate of the 2007 Maximin Grunhauser Herrenberg Riesling Auslese, with alkaline and smoky notes clearly showing through, even though creaminess of texture and undertones of malt and honey point toward a botrytis element. This displays the lightness and buoyancy of a Spatlese, with its high residual sugar is practically hidden, and finishes with abundant fruit and an authoritative sense of site-typical mineral notes, promising a quarter-century of fascinating and delightful bottle evolution.
