Tasting Notes

An easy-going, picnic-styled red, this 2001 offers up a perfume of cherries, herbs, and spice in a light to medium-bodied, fruity format. Consume it over the next year.

Relatively pale and mature-looking. A little grassy on the nose and a bit tired and rustic on the palate. Perfectly sound for current drinking but it will set no-one alight. Very Graves and lightish. Good balance.

A fine second wine, the stylish 2001 Bahans Haut-Brion offers abundant quantities of black currant fruit intermixed with spice and subtle earth notes. With medium body, outstanding purity, and a sweet attack, it will drink well for a dozen or so years. Approximately 30% of the crop made it into this cuvee.
