Tasting Notes

The 2007 Vin de Pays du Bouche du Rhône Rouge is a wine of pure and total pleasure. Ripe, racy and exotic, the 2007 possesses tremendous richness from the very first taste. But there is more to the 2007 than just flamboyance. It remains a very young wine, mostly built on fruit, with not a lot of aromatic nuance. I imagine that will come with time. Today, the 2007 is a wine to admire for its power, structure and potential. Super-ripe black cherry, coffee, licorice and dark spice are some of the nuances that linger on the substantial finish. This bottle was released from the domaine in 2020.

Already a bit of development on the rim. Dark ruby. Very complex and developed aromatically. Balsamic note again (like the 2009). Tapenade (is this autosuggestion?). High toned. Much mellower than most vintages. Definite candied black-olive notes on the finish. Some richness before a firm finish. Already drinking well.

A intense, brooding nose of brambly black fruits, hints of vanilla and a streak of minerality, while rich, dark fruits coat the palate. This wine is full-bodied and inky but its ripe tannins and fresh acidity means it remains perfectly-balanced throughout the lengthy finish. This is a superb Trevallon.

Farr Vintners, February 2009

Gorgeous decadent aroma of deeply sweet fruit, a bloody meatiness and still a lively almost floral note. Then on the palate, meaty, firm tannins, deeply satisfying. Still a firm grip, seems much firmer than the 2012 is likely to be.
