Bonnes Mares, Bouchard Père et Fils 2005

Tasting Notes

A superbly complex nose is built around mostly blue fruit aromas with distinct notes of spice, game and earth where the earth component continues onto the elegant and classy flavors that are wonderfully dense and like the Ech possess outstanding phenolic ripeness and simply oozes dry extract on the youthfully austere and slightly warm finish. A striking wine that has real 'presence' in the mouth.

Good full red. Incredible nose melds blueberry, smoked meat, cola, minerals and brown spices. Then silky and seamless on the palate, with outstanding volume and force, and great inner-palate energy to its deep smoky, spicy dark fruits. A wine of compelling sappiness, finishing with great persistence and a tactile whiplash of texture and flavor, with the tannins remarkably fine. This was so plush I drank half the bottle, but it really needs 10 or 12 years in a cold cellar.
