Tasted at Ets. Thunevin. The Virginie has a very opulent but "controlled" bouquet that does not get carried away with itself. Blackberry, macerated black cherries, a touch of boysenberry and noticeable vanillary that at least does not smother its definition. The palate if full-bodied with ripe, slightly chewy tannins, moderate acidity, very pure with a rounded, supple finish of blackberry, pomegranate and a hint of white pepper. Nicely focused. Tasted March 2010.
Intense aromas of mineral, toasty oak and dried flowers, with cool and dark fruits. Full-bodied, with a lovely silky texture and a racy, fine finish. Serious for the second wine of Valandraud.
Very dark. Very sweet and rich. Sumptuous. 30% Cabernet Franc, pH 3.65. Very rich and luscious. Bit dry on the finish. Date tasted 30th March 2010. Drink 2016-2026.
Pure, long and persistent. Beautiful aromatics. Opulence on the palate, the tannins rounded and suave. Modern and seductive but with an elegance and grace. Drink 2014-2024.
