Charmes Chambertin VV, Domaine Bachelet 2007

Tasting Notes

There is also a trace of reduction but it's so mild that the expressiveness of the sexy plum, violet and black and blue pinot fruit is not compromised. The big-bodied, round and delicious flavors seem more forward than they really are because like the Corbeaux this positively exudes dry extract which pushes the firm tannins to the background as the superbly well balanced finish both stains and coats the palate on the finale. Terrific potential here and Bachelet almost never misses anymore with this wine.

Tasted at the Domaine. The Charmes lives up to its name: very sensuous on the nose with pure red-berried fruit: raspberry, cranberry, loganberry and blueberry. Just lots of berries! Fantastic definition. The palate is medium-bodied and very expressive, rounded and again, sensuous in texture, silky smooth, filigree tannins, pure raspberry, strawberry on the sorbet-tinged finish that has great length. Very classy indeed. Drink 2012-2025+ Tasted January 2009.
