Gevrey Chambertin Clos Saint Jacques, Domaine Bruno Clair 2000

An expressive nose reflects notes of secondary fruit, dried leaves and spice along with background wisps of sous-bois and volatile acidity. The sleek and appealingly vibrant middle weight flavors offer good mid-palate richness that contrasts with the mildly edgy and short finish where a hint of bitter cherry character appears. I like the depth but it would be fair to observe that the balance isn't quite completely dialed in.
