Tasting Notes

(Joh. Jos. Prüm Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Spätlese) This is still quite closed at the moment but, after extensive airing, offers deep and intense telltale notes of white peach, pear and apple wrapped into scents of white flowers. The wine is quite intense and powerful on the palate, with some surprising notes of almond (reduction) yet remains airy and light in the after-taste, which lingers on nearly forever. This hugely impressive effort will require some patience, but should then prove to be simply splendid. 2019-2034

Seems more open than the Kabinett, more evident fruit at the outset though still that distinctive reductive nose. Intensely mineral. Then rich and peachy on the palate, filling the mouth in a delicate but enveloping fashion. Streamlined with a lovely line. (JH) 7.5%. Drink 2013-2025.
