Tasting Notes

Vivid and pure-tasting, with a well-structured array of mineral, peach, citrus and savory spice notes that are tightly wound. Still, this is quite airy, especially on the impeccable finish of lime and nectarine. Best from 2015 through 2038.

Kim Marcus, Wine Spectator, April 2011

The Prum 2009 Graacher Himmelreich Riesling Auslese gold capsule - which is not an auction wine - is remarkably redolent of pure honey from its aroma; through its glazed, glycerin-rich, subtly oily palate impression; to a soothing, nearly ineradicable finish. Lemon and apple candy; vanilla cream; and creme de cassis all add to the confectionary richness on display here. Those with a decidedly sweet tooth will be more impressed with this than my score might otherwise predict. (For me, the 2008 is magic by comparison.) I'd forget this in the cellar for 20 years and anticipate 15-20 years active performing career after that.

(Joh. Jos. PrĂ¼m Graacher Himmelreich Riesling Auslese GK) AP: 19 12. The 2011er Graacher Himmelreich Riesling Auslese GK offers a comparatively rich and ripe nose of apple puree, pear, candied grapefruit, nutmeg, cinnamon, ginger cake, and licorice. The wine reveals plenty of fruity and exotic elements (mango, roasted pineapple, date) underlined by honeyed elements on the still rather sweet tasting palate. It leaves one with a delicately long and well delineated feel in the finish. Although this Auslese does not exhibit the telltale freshness and lightness of the Estate, it remains a fascinating dessert wine to enjoy over the coming decades. Now-2041
