This vintage was made by Alfred Tesseron and team from Ch Pontet Canet in Pauillac. Easy peasy and no rough edges. Classic for Bordeaux lovers. I could just imagine them loving this in clubland. Slightly inky finish but not too tough. Proof that 2007 is drinking like a dream now. Drink 2010-2015
Tangy ripe cassis nose. Juicy if not especially rich. Dense but rounded tannins. Slight bitterness at the very end brings it down.
A bright and aromatic nose of fresh red cherries, red currants and plum. This is intense and open with an attractive polished sheen of smoky French oak. The palate is red fruit dominated with a slight hint of spice. The fruit is wrapped in smooth and ripe tannin that has melded well with the balancing acidity. Red cherries and a touch of cedar and nutmeg linger on the finish. Complex and with impressive length. Youthful of course, but drinking superbly already and will only go on improving.
Some of the last vines before the Margaux appellation and a sniff will tell you that it's not far from the big guns. Lovely light, woody aroma and good fruit. Lighter in style than further up the road but a good affordable wine.
