Subtle hints of pineapple, Thai lemongrass, orange blossoms and crushed rock jump from the glass of this medium bodied wine made from 100% Sauvignon Blanc. Very rich and loaded with intensity, this is a beauty from the owners of Chateau Margaux. Drink it over the next 15+ years.
Dense and rich with dried lemons, mangos, papaya and apples yet it's super bright and crisp. It's all there. Best ever white from Margaux.
Very flinty and dense and minerally. Much less fat than usual. Started picking 8 Sep - over a week. Much drier than old vintages. Intense and tense. Green flavours. Picked about four days earlier than before, 29 hl/ha so not lower yields but they worked in the vineyards. But most important was the selection: they separated and eliminated the last part of the pressed juice because that portion is pretty big and sweet. Corinne Mentzelopoulos, rather acidly: 'I call it throwing it away'. 'We eliminated 60% of total crop,' admitted Pontallier. 13.8%
This is the dry white wine of Chateau Margaux. Produced from 100% Sauvignon Blanc with 60% of the production sold off in bulk. The cooler summer temperatures of 2010 suited the Sauvignon Blanc variety and this has lovely freshness to balance the spicy and exotic pineapple and grapefruit flavours. Good lingering length.
The nose is lovely and fragrant with the freshness of apple and citrus. More exotic richer flavours give weight on the mid palate. The layers of fruit give amazing complexity and the finish is long lingering packed with flavour.
Fragrant slightly grapefruit nose, crispness and lemony length, great minerality and purity. Drink 2012-20.
