Tasting Notes

Balanced, elegant and generous, with a welcoming, slightly toasted and exotic nose. Tannins are melted at this point, practically conducting the fruit without moving a muscle. The bramble fruit has also reached a soft, sweetened stage. 27 years old and a masterclass in older Médocs. 7% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc complete the blend.

Robert Parker, Bordeaux Book (4), December 2003

A garnet core with deep brick rim, slightly brighter than the 1993. The nose is very conservative upon the first couple of sniffs, but be patient because it evolves an attractive mulberry scented aromas with touches of bilberry and Satsuma. The palate is medium-bodied, harmonious, firm tannins, rather conservative but with very good weight and far more freshness and vigour that I was expecting. Quite meaty and very savoury towards the rustic finish, it is almost as if it wants to be Figeac! Very fine considering the vintage and far superior to the lamentable 1993. Drink now-2014 Tasted March 2008.
