Tasting Notes

The old vine Mazis is almost always Maume's finest wine and so it is again in 2005 with its slightly wild nose of underbrush, freshly turned earth, smoked game, spice hints and concentrated dark berry fruit nose that complements the dusty, intense and well-muscled flavors supported by dense but relatively sophisticated tannins and simply huge length. The structure is more of a background element at present because of all the mid-palate sap but this will be a long-distance runner. Superb and highly recommended.
