Tasting Notes

**Note: from 90+ year old vines in a parcel measuring .32 ha**
This is even more aromatically complex and broad ranging with a dazzling nose of anise, clove and cinnamon nuances serving to add an exotic element to the menthol-infused dark berry fruit, cassis and mineral-inflected nose. The very rich big-bodied flavors ooze dry extract to the point that the palate staining finish seems less structured than it really is. At present though the defining feature of this explosive wine is its intensity and it is borderline painful yet everything is in perfect balance. This should age and improve for at least two decades and my guess is that a few bottles will see their 50th birthdays in fine condition.

Allen Meadows, Burghound.com (46), April 2012

Bright medium red. Candied raspberry, blood orange, peony, crushed stone and white pepper; a real essence of Musigny. Like liquid silk on the palate, offering an uncanny combination of sweetness and energy. Totally primary today yet even more showy than the Amoureuses. The tactile, high-pitched flavors of pomegranate, citrus peel and flowers carry through on the explosive aftertaste. It's nearly impossible to scrape this elixir off the palate.

Stephen Tanzer, International Wine Cellar, February 2012

Subtle, much drier than the Bonnes Mares. Such energy and integrity. Savoury and dense and nothing at all like the fruity opulence of Jadot's Bonnes Mares. Intellectual and dense with lots of tension. Long and reverberant.
