Chambolle Musigny Les Charmes, Domaine de la Pousse d'Or 2010

Tasting Notes

A discreet but beguilingly perfumed nose of liqueur of red berry fruit, plum and wet stone hints complements well the rich, pure and seductively textured medium-bodied flavors that also brim with palate coating dry extract. There is a suave and velvety texture that presently completely buffers the equally fine-grained tannins on the lingering finish. A classic Charmes that is generous but exceptionally fine.

(one of four barrels are new): Saturated, bright ruby-red. Very ripe aromas of black raspberry, chocolate, licorice and wild rose. Fat, sweet and open-knit; a very rich, smooth, chocolatey style, conveying a strong impression of sucrosite. Finishes with dusty, slighlty aggressive tannins and excellent length. It's hard to believe that the Amoureuses won't be more complex than this wine with several years of bottle aging, but this will be more satisfying in its youth.
