Gevrey Chambertin Clos Saint Jacques, Domaine Fourrier 2010

Tasting Notes

This is also unusually expressive at this early stage with wonderfully layered aromas of floral nuances, raspberry, cherry, plum, stone and earth. There is excellent volume and richness to the strikingly well-detailed medium-bodied flavors that ooze a fine minerality on the refined, mouth coating and explosively long finish. This faultlessly well-balanced wine should age for years if desired though be approachable after a decade. Be sure to decant this as the gas is apparent.

Jean-Marie Fourrier's Clos St Jacques has a well-defined bouquet nose that shows just a little reduction at the moment, but underneath exist utterly pure dark cherry, raspberry and bergamot scents. The palate is medium-bodied with fine, quite succulent tannins. There is tremendous depth and precision, though it is not a powerful Clos Saint Jacques, but one more symmetrical and structured. Superb. Tasted January 2012.
