Tasting Notes

A restrained, spicy, pure, elegant and highly complex nose features notes of liqueur-like red and black cherry scents that still evidence a top note of menthol. The suave and incredibly seductive middle weight plus flavors ooze a subtle natural sweetness yet underneath all of this youthful charm continues to lurk a firm tannic spine that maintains the focuse the strikingly long and mouth coating finish. This remains exceptionally primary and backward and is, not surprisingly, still a long way from its full apogee. In sum, this is really quite impressive and I would strongly advise continued patience. Drink: Try from 2030+

Along with the Amoureuses and Musigny this possesses the most impressive aromatic profile in the entire range with its spicy, pure, elegant and highly complex liqueur of red and black cherry scents that evidence a top note of menthol. The suave and incredibly seductive flavors ooze a subtle natural sweetness yet underneath all of this youthful charm lurks a firm but ripe tannic spine that focuses the long and mouth coating finish. I'm not sure why but of all the wines in the extensive Drouhin portfolio, the Grands Echézeaux seems to have made the most progress in recent years and it now consistently ranks with the very best here.
