Mazy Chambertin, Domaine Joseph Roty 2009

Despite the proximity to the Fontenys, this is notably more sauvage in character with wild red berry fruit, warm earth and the same intense minerality that also characterizes the dense and powerful flavors that brim with dry extract on the firmly structured and impressively persistent finish. I particularly like the underlying sense of balance and harmony and this should age well. There is some wood toast present but it's reasonably subtle.
