Tasting Notes

This is the home estate of Stephane Derenoncourt. Made from yields of 27 hectoliters per hectare, the 2011 Domaine de l'A achieved 13.5% natural alcohol, and the final blend was dominated by Merlot (80%) with 20% Cabernet Franc. A deep plum/purple color is accompanied by sweet black cherry, darker currant and briery notes, a wine with supple, velvety tannins, a lush texture and a heady finish. Enjoy it over the next 5-7 years.

Tasted en primeur at La Grippe. The Domaine de l'A has a very pure bouquet with fine black cherry and blueberry aromas. It has fine delineation with a patina of creamy oak. The palate is medium-bodied with a sweet entry, grippy tannins and quite linear towards the finish. I think this will flesh out during maturation. Fine. Tasted April 2012.

Lots of smoky wood right now but outstanding fruit, too. Full body, medium-chewy tannins and a juicy finish. Needs to come together. Better in 2017.

A fairly polished performance. Plenty of vitality and lift in the fruit. Silky texture. Acidity present on the finish. Drink 2016-2022

This has an impressive finish with a velvety tannin structure, outstanding concentration of fruit and a fine finish. The personal wine of Stephan Derenancourt. Really well done this year.
