Ruchottes Chambertin, Philippe Pacalet 2010

Tasting Notes

Here too there is a deft touch of wood that serves to highlight the perfumed aromas of plum and red berries that also reflect subtle notes of smoke, rose petal, stone and spice. There is fine delineation to the otherwise impressively rich and powerful flavors where the copious amount of dry extract imparts a velvety texture to the mouth feel. This is focused and linear on the finish yet the impression is a wine of real volume. Interestingly, there is a hint of the exotic on the impeccably well-balanced finale. I very much like this age-worthy effort plus it is less austere than is typical for a youthful Ruchottes.
