Tasting Notes

Traces of crushed herbs and cassis add depth to the spicy and elegant yet sauvage nose, which is admittedly an interesting contrast in character. The rich, full and intense flavors offer good if not exceptional size and weight though there is a taut muscularity to the mineral suffused finish that coats and stains the palate. A very good but not great Mazis by the considerable standards extant here.
Note: from a .65 ha parcel in Mazis-Bas of 70+ year old vines

A trace of cassis can also be found here but it's much more subtle and does not otherwise dominate the spicy and elegant yet sauvage nose, which is admittedly an interesting contrast in character. The rich, full and intense flavors offer good if not exceptional size and weight though this is a taut muscularity to the mineral suffused and explosive finish that coats and stains the palate. This too delivers a fine sense of coherency and overall, this is an excellent if not truly outstanding effort.
