Banyuls, Domaine Pietri Geraud 1962

Tasting Notes

The nose has a little more race and vigor than the 1965 with hints of fresh strawberry, rose water, dried apricot and a slight adhesive note. The palate is medium-bodied with good weight and harmony. This is a very feminine, sensual Banyuls with lovely fruitcake, white pepper, ginger and marmalade. It is very refined on the finish but perhaps misses the "thrust" of more powerful vintages. Tasted December 2012.

100% Grenache Noir. Still looks quite youthful though with a little more complexity than the 1963. Still tastes undeveloped and a little stringy. Lots of tannin.
